For example, I can give a task to someone who has received CPR training to attend an event where children will be present.

My boss approached me and told me that we needed to hurry up and finish it in 25 days while keeping our other projects on track. I turned it into a competition for my team, and by dividing the responsibility, we did the job in 22 days by adding only a few hours to each of our schedules. Of course, I had a fantastic team to work with, but I believe my effective task allocation was a factor in the project’s success.

As an intern at Royal Writers Co., I felt like my every action needed clearance, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it was helpful because I had no idea what I was doing. I honestly credit my quick learning to the close supervision I received. However, after I officially joined the team as a professional writer, I started to feel a little restricted. I assumed that once I “established myself,” everything would improve, but after a few more months of no change, a mentor helped me see that I wasn’t being proactive about engaging with my management.
