Last year a player opted to switch over to another rival team for which he had all the rights to do as we did not want to keep a player with divided attention causing underperformance, a threat from the sponsoring brand too and that was going to be a financial dent. We discussed with the brand offering them an alternative player and we admonished the outgoing player against using or talking about that sponsoring brand, resolving the matter with no adverse results.

First thing first, I have a passion for sports and want to play my role as far as I can. I am holding a bachelor’s degree in sports management. The sports industry is extremely competitive so I did several sports-related courses too like sports law and the like. I know how to win sponsorships for sports and my risk management plans have always been appreciated. Before I did my graduation, I also completed a 400-hour internship.

As a student, I could win the pride of performance award, and then I was awarded joint sports agency for a national team thought it was well watched by a group of professionals. This later converted into a sole agency where I was the sole agent for the team. This way I earned organic recognition that increased with time.

13. What Is Your Take On Work Environment?

Agents may spend time with the athlete at practice and also spend hours on the phone in the office, a day or even two scouting out some new talent while having lunches and dinners with possible advertisers or employers of the athletes. When athletes fail to meet their expectations, it destabilizes us being as sports agents too. We keep a belief in our sportspeople to execute a certain task winning an event. My point of view is to analyze individual situations critically and being a Sports Agent, it is an important area in sports management. Athletes who perform well need to be compensated and handled well before this brings them to a situation of negotiations. During discussions, we can give the sportsperson a feeling about another placement after retirement too. This helps to win better athletes and overcome their challenges in their mental game. This exhibiting of care also helps athletes to perform better and consistently. 20. How Important Are Trust And Respect In Your Domain?

Along with honesty, comes a certain level of trust. If you make big promises but do not deliver, you will lose as an agent. I try to stay away from guaranteeing deals until the contract ink has dried. Also, I do not promise my client to brands and companies without being sure they are also on board.

No one expects a Sports Agent to be all-knowing unless the facts and data are provided, so willingness to ask for advice or assistance is a critical skill for my position.

A successful Sports Agent needs a wide range of diversified experience. My previous experience as Sports Agent with a national team in an associate capacity doing sports management can be an asset for a new employer. Because I have experience in leading others and being led specifically in this field, I, therefore, understand both the business and operations sides of my domain. This reflects me as a real leader and of course, the best fit!
