When I first joined this career, one of the biggest challenges I faced was time management.  I would spend a lot of time straightening paper at my desk or going through the manual product for almost the 10th time. It happened for almost 2 weeks after which my boss pointed out that these random activities are not adding up to my commission. He recommended that I should be spending time that will lead to a sale. He introduced to me a basic rule of thumb used in sales i.e. 80:20. To work right in this field, I should be spending 80% of my time in selling activities and 20% of the time that supports the process. They will typically buy large quantities of a product and then resell it to their buyers for a profit. At times there may be an overlap between the functions of sales representatives and distributors. Sometimes, sales reps may work on a buy/resell basis. Yes, I don’t see a problem in it but I do believe in a little bit of research before picking up a receiver randomly. If I know about the person I am going to speak to and the company’s profile, the cold call can turn into somehow successful. In my experience, I have learned that if the cold call can last more than 2 minutes then there are chances that the person might be interested. The first 2 minutes are the toughest of all since you can gauge from the person’s tone if they are interested in your product or they are least bothered about this product of yours. That is why I always make sure that I don’t get a quote to complete in making these cold calls that I have to make 50 calls every day. I don’t want to sound like a parrot on call that does not know the other person on the call.

17. How Often Do You Meet Your Sales Target?

Targets are achieved from time to time but in this career, you must improve your pitch from time to time. As technology changes the business, one should improve the solutions too. I am sure we all will agree to this because, at the end of the day, we all want to meet our sales target which translates well into our revenue.

This return on investment is simply the profitability of the company or organization. Return on Investment = Net Income/Average total assets

This can easily be done by simple calculations using a computer and an excel spreadsheet. I can look at the net sales for the individual territory and divide this number by the total cost. The total cost will include total salary, territory expenses including car, gas, office supplies, parking, and product expenses including packaging and shipping costs. By adding all of these expenses into the spreadsheet and dividing by the net sales income.
