The biggest challenge in my last role was trying to figure out how to make it work with the team and with the company as well as working hard to understand what everyone’s roles were, what they needed from me, and why they felt they needed me there. I overcame this challenge by listening more than talking, asking questions, taking notes, and asking for clarification when needed. It was also helpful to ask open-ended questions instead of yes/no or list questions to learn about my new co-workers’ backgrounds, interests, strengths, and weaknesses. It helped me better understand them so I could better relate to them and find ways that would benefit us both.

The industry is unpredictable, so you have to be ready for anything. It also helps if you have a great team behind you because they can give tips and help you brainstorm solutions. And even if things seem like they are going nowhere, keep moving forward.
8. Mention A Time That You Failed In This Role. What Lesson Did You Learn?
To me, failure is when you give up without trying everything you reasonably can. I learned that if something feels too big, one should never ignore it and try to break it down or reach out for help. Once while in charge of a team that was tasked with creating a new marketing campaign for our company. As the first step toward a full-on re-branding effort, so we were hoping it would make a big splash on social media. But I did not understand the importance of testing and iterating until it was too late. The first round of testing was disappointing; the clients we showed it to do not even know what to make of it. It was an amazing experience that helped me gain some valuable experience.
