At the start of my career in this field, I interacted with 2 clients who shared their reasons for the delay in paying their debt. In my head, I was trying to negotiate a payment plan for them but they were pretty professional in halting me throughout. I kept giving them more time to sort their financial situation in empathy. It kept happening for months but my report was shared with my supervisor. He was furious about the delay and told me about the damage it is doing to the company’s finances. I learned that having empathy is okay but my job in debt collection has some rules too. I should be concerned about the company’s finances more! The creditor must also send notice of the hearing to the court. The court hearing usually must be held within two weeks of the creditor receiving the exemption claim.   • The signatory has died- In this case, we cannot do much unless and until there is legal paperwork that mentions a third party name if something goes wrong with the main.
