I almost made the company suffer a loss at the beginning of my career by not double-checking my calculations and reviewing the financial documentation I was preparing. The errors were luckily flagged by my immediate supervisor, who gave me a stern warning, given that I was still fresh. I vowed never to let such a thing happen again. I was invited to help with auditing a small firm when I encountered who I believe to be the most challenging client I have ever worked with in my career. The business owner wanted to be fully involved in every process to the point of slowing us down. Given my excellent people skills, I was asked to talk to him. I requested to converse with him for a minute and politely explained how a little independence and autonomy would allow us to work faster and more efficiently.
