6. Adapting to a Completely New Company Is Usually One of The Hardest Things for Ny Consultant. How Do You Manage That?
I understand that every company has its culture and mission. Therefore, I take it upon myself to learn more about the company’s culture before starting a project. This helps me come up with ways of adapting my communication, process, and behavior.
I also have conversations with the management and employees to understand the company better. I believe that the best way of helping a business grow is to build honest and transparent relationships.
7. As a Consultant, What Helps You Set Prices for Your Projects?
I believe that the market sets the price in consultancy, just as it does to all the other fields. I believe in selling value and not reducing the worth of my services to the hours worked. Therefore, while pricing, I usually consider the added revenues that my services will generate for the company.
I also ensure that I take account of my client’s budget and communicate my rates beforehand. I believe in negotiation, which should be open and honest. I can compromise on my rates, but I do not believe in going too low to land a job.
8. What Approach Do You Take When It Comes to Sizing a Market?
I normally examine the population in the given market, then look at the percentage of people who use the product and services. I also conduct surveys, analyze data and identify critical issues that the recipients have with the industry to understand the number of customers who would buy the given services but haven’t yet.
9. Has a Business Leader Shown Disregard of Skepticism In Regards To Your Suggestions? If Not, How Would You Manage That?
I understand that industry leaders may have their ideas and thoughts that they believe can help foster the development of the business. Before starting on any project, I normally ensure that we have a common ground to help me convince the business leaders about the merits of my suggestions.
If such a thing happens, I would first acknowledge the leader’s concern before using my data and research to convince them just how viable my suggestion is. I will also explain the specific cause-and-effect of the suggestion I have put across to help them visualize and justify my strategies.
10. Have You Ever Worked with Other Consultants? How Do You Address Difference in Opinions?
I have worked with other consultants at several points of my career, especially in inter-companies’ projects. Whereas it is a good experience, I have to admit that one of the biggest problems is always different opinions. To address this, I normally suggest that we critically discuss and dissect every opinion and pick one which promises greater returns. A consultant needs to be open-minded and consider other decisions if they promise better results.
11. How Do You Stay Motivated at Work?
I love helping corporates and organizations come up with ways of increasing their profitability and revenue. I draw my motivation from seeing my clients succeed. Working around people and learning more about their personalities and problems also fuels me further.

I believe in prioritizing work. I have built a framework that ensures that the most urgent piece is handled first, followed by those that can wait. I also have my deadlines apart from those set by the client, which I strive to meet.
Once I finish my work within my deadline, I dedicate the remaining time to ensure that the recommended quality is met.
13. How Would You Explain a Complex Issue to a Client?
I believe in coming down to the level of the client when explaining a concept. To ensure that he/ she understands, I normally avoid using technical terms and jargon. I simplify my presentation to the lowest level and advise him/ her to ask questions once I am done.
I explain concepts in a language that the client best understands. I believe that I am flexible enough and can handle a range of clients. Depending on the situation, I may also ask questions to ascertain whether the client has understood me or not.
14. This Type of Work Makes You Meet Different People. How Would You Handle a Difficult Boss If You Met One?
I am a great believer in communication. I would communicate regularly with the boss to find out what he/ she wants and expects when going about the job. I will further ensure that I achieve high-performance standards not consistently clash with him/ her.
I also believe in follow-ups. Before giving him/ her a reason to be upset, I will follow up on my submissions. However, I believe in honesty and will not keep quiet if I feel that he/ she is going overboard.
15. Have You Ever Struggled to Meet a Deadline? How Do You Now Manage to Complete Your Assignments?
I once almost lost a client because I did not meet the deadline by a few minutes. This scenario taught me the importance of prioritizing work. I have made it a habit to break down work and handle the most urgent. I also delegate work to the right people once I have established that I will not meet a given deadline. I have never failed a client since that one bad experience.
16. Have You Ever Dealt with a Difficult Client? What Did You Learn and What Would You Do Differently Now?
I once had a client who believed that he knew what was best for the business and did not, therefore, care much about what I had to say. He would make me work on a project and later discard my suggestions and go with his, some of which flopped.
After two projects, I arranged a meeting with him to review the decisions that he had made after disregarding my suggestions. He was shocked to learn that most of his decisions proved costly and made the business suffer.
I managed to convince him and let him understand that my suggestions were in the business’s best interest. This experience taught me the importance of patience when dealing with such customers. I would have chosen to walk out of our arrangement long ago had I not been a patient person.
If I were to do things differently, I would have arranged the meeting sooner. It would have saved him the losses the business underwent.

I was once tasked to lead a team of consultants for an insurance company. It was one of the best experiences I have ever had in my career. Bringing together different minds to work on a project means high levels of accuracy and quality results.
The main problem, however, came with the difference of opinions. We resolved this by weighing all the opinions and picking the one with the best results.

A good consultant should be able to prioritize the right things at the right time. He/ she should behave high levels of secrecy and honesty, not to divulge information given by the client, but help him/ her better the business.

I believe that the major issues in this industry are the increasing number of incompetent consultants, who are in it for the money and the ever-changing business environment (You can then explain)
