5. Describe The Daily Routine Of A Tax Specialist?

The workload and tasks for the day depend on the time of year as there are typical tax months that are taxing and every client seems in a hurry during the season. Of course, from January until April 15th, the tax team goes crazy with IRS tax return preparation to ensure on-time submissions for our clients. The summer is slower, but things pick up again as of September approaches when I mostly work on business tax returns that were extended; while in October, I work on individual tax extensions. After October 15th, we begin to move into another slow season, which is when I help take care of administrative tasks, such as migrating client computer files from the last tax year to the next tax year.

I started my career in tax administration a few years back with a handful of clients as a two-person setup. From there I focused on my clients and also looked for more. If taxpayers do not correctly calculate their tax liability, the IRS can impose a 20% accuracy penalty under Sec. 6662. This penalty can be assessed because of negligence, disregard of rules and regulations, or a substantial understatement of the tax liability. A few terms back, this happened with the case of my client. Though penalty was imposed the penalty for negligence or disregard of a rule or regulation does not apply if the taxpayer discloses on the return the position taken and meets a specific standard. As I said earlier, I am a tax person since I started my carrier. Being a commerce graduate followed by a specialization in tax matters, I am not afraid of going through agreements and contracts and writing professionally well in a presentable and professional format. Being proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel stuff, I am a highly-organized multitasker who works well, especially in the tax environment. That is not the end but I have the willingness to learn to grow too.
