I also have goals and targets that help me stay on track whenever I feel distracted or motivated. Additionally, I always stay positive regardless of the circumstances, which has always helped me stay motivated in my work. Lastly, mindful techniques such as meditation have helped me build on my focus, which helps in staying motivated.
10. Describe A Time You Failed In This Role And The Lesson You Learnt
At one point, I got too swamped with work that I forgot to draft and send a critical report on time. Even though I was given a deadline extension, I earned a severe reprimand from my immediate superior, which almost demotivated me. However, I learned from the experience and started creating and maintaining a task list to ensure I do not miss anything critical. I also use tools such as the calendar to stay organized.
11. Why Do You Feel Qualified For This Role?
I am a highly skilled manager with seven years of experience in category management. I have bettered the category department of 5 retail stores, including some of your competitors, and even possess the expertise needed to develop effective sales and profit maximization strategies. Yes. I have worked in several industries over the years, which have taught me valuable lessons. I began working as a chef at a local restaurant during college, a job that gave me a chance to experience the hospitality industry. As a category manager, one of my jobs is to track and manage inventory. I normally use a number of tools to make my work easier, such as Excel spreadsheets to track sales data and trends, Oracle RMS to manage promotions, pricing and product assortments, and a range of forecasting and demand planning tools such as the JDA Demand Planning tool. The last step is to work on a lasting solution to prevent the problem from re-occurring.
It is also important to document such complaints to know what to do in the future in case a similar problem occurs. Having solved many complaints before in my career, I am confident I will do a great job.
20. How Do You Normally Reduce Product Lines- Associated Costs?
One of my roles as a category manager is to find ways of reducing costs associated with product lines, which I have successfully done over the years. I normally have strategies to help me stay updated on market trends and find new and cheaper sources of supply.
